Chrysler Repair: 97 Sebring 2.5 V-6 power steering pump removal, replacing a water pump, power steering pump

Question
Hello,
I am replacing a water pump - removed all timing belt covers except top right which is blocked by the power steering bracket.  How do you remove the bracket, or is there a trick to removing the timing belt cover without removing the bracket?

Answer
Hi Don,
Unfortunately you do have to remove the power steering pump bracket to get that cover off, and the cover does have to come off to change the timing belt.
I believe that because you aren't trying to remove the pump in its entirety there may be no need to deal with the fluid in the system. The steps are:
At the rear of the pump, remove bolt at adjusting slot in accessory drive bracket that attaches back of power steering pump to the bracket.
Remove bolt at front adjustment slot attaching the pump's front mounting bracket to the cast aluminum drive bracket on engine. Then remove bolt at top of power steering front mounting bracket, attaching it to the accessory drive bracket. Remove the power steering pump drive belt. Remove the pump, fluid supply hose, and front mounting bracket as a assembly. Perhaps hang it by a wire to release strain on the hose.
That is verbatim from the manuals. There are a few drawings but I don't have a scanner so would have to xerox and postal mail those to you, which is probably not consistent with your time constraints.
Let me know if other questions come up in the process and I wish you success in the project.
