Chrysler Repair: 1996 Chrysler Sebring Theft system disarming, chrysler sebring, jumper wire

Question
Question
How do I manually shut off my security alarm because sometimes when you open the passenger side door without the drivers side door the alarm goes off and I have no idea how to turn it off. 1996 Chrysler Sebring LXI

How do I turn it off if driver door locks do not work? is there a manual reset for your alarm?

Answer
Hi Dustin,
You should also be able to shut it off if you have the remote keyless entry module. If not, and if neither front door key locks will shut it off, then that means that the wire from each of those locks to the body controller is not making connection. To manually shut it off you would have to go to the 20-pin black plug on the body controller under the dash on the back side of the fuse box, and put a pin through the insulation of the light green/orange or dark green/orange wires at pins 19 and 20 respectively. Then once you have established contact with the internal conductor of either wire you would use a jumper wire to connect the pin to ground (any shiny metal surface under the dash)and then disconnect it.  That will replicate the use of the key in the door lock. If you want to not use the system at all, then just use the pushbuttons on the doors to lock the doors rather than the power locks or the remote key. You can leave the pin in one of the wires, then carry along a jumper and you will always be able to turn off the alarm using the jumper wire.
This suggestion is based on the '98 wiring diagrams that I have and which are probably applicable to your '96.
There is no simple way to defeat the system for good
