Chrysler Repair: 94 Intrepid Mysterious Stalling, crank sensor, wiggle test

Question
Hello,

I have a 1994 Dodge Intrepid ES with 174,000 miles which I've owned  since it was new.  The past few weeks I began to have an occasional problem with stalling.  I would be driving along fine and suddenly the engine would just be dead--just as if some turned off the key.  There was no apparent warning or engine sputtering although one time, the dash lights all flashed on and off first.  At first it seemed most likely to happen when I had driven 10 miles or more.  I took it  to a mechanic, they ran diagnostics but no error codes came up and they were not able to duplicate the problem.  They suggested replacing the cam sensor and crank sensor which they did. I did not have problems for about a week, then it happened again several times, this time after driving only a couple of miles.  So far the car has always restarted.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Answer
I would take a close look at the engine harness. The pcm is below the air cleaner housing.Follow that around the engine.Do a wiggle test by moving the harness while the car is running to see if you can make it stall. It sounds like a wiring problem.Something loose or grounding out.If you go back to a mechanic and they check it for codes.Ask them if they can see how many starts since it was last cleared. If it is a low amount, chances are you are losng power to the pcm.
