Chrysler Repair: PCM question, plymouth neon, neon 2

Question
I have a 1995 Plymouth Neon, 2.0, with a SOHC.  I left work one night and the car acted as if it wanted to start but wouldn't turn all the way over.  It wasn't gas, and the lights and radio worked.  My check engine light did not come on when I tried to start it, as it usually did, and my mechanic said no power was going to the coil pack or fuel pump.  He suggested that I needed a new PCM? Could that be true? I know they don't last long but I had it replaced several years ago.

Answer
Pcms do last long.I don't replace alot of them.Did this guy check for power at the pcm? After I made sure that the pcm is communicating I would look at the wiring. There is one main trouble spot.It is in the harness connector that is right behind the fuse box under the hood.Check it for broken or corroded wires. If you read some of my previous answers you will notice I say this alot. Most of the no start/driveability problems are due to a broken/shorted/corroded wire.It s unfortunate that a lot of these problems are found after several parts are replaced including pcms.So much so that on newer vehicles Chrysler have put such parts on restriction to thier dealer techs.
