Chrysler Repair: 92 Plymouth Sundance, plymouth sundance, oxygen sensor

Question
I have a 92 Plymouth Sundane. It was turning over good but will not start. The timing belt is good, the spark plugs a getting good fire and getting plenty of gas the number one spark plug is getting lots of gas the other three are dry. I got three codes they are 12,41 and 51. The battery was died so I put a new one on it now when you turn the key to start it clicks one time and then you have to wiggle the battery wire. ANY SUGGESTIONS!

Thanks,
Seth

Answer
Hi Seth,
On the battery, you didn't say which wire (+ or -) you have to wiggle, but if the clamp is attached to the wire and not corroded and the other end of the wire is tight at the starter motor, and you mean the + wire, then I would think the battery has a loose internal connection. Either that or the battery is not fully charged sufficiently to turn over the starter. The 12 code is due to disconnecting the battery or its loose connection.
The 41 code means there is a problem with the wire from the engine controller and the alternator field coil or the coil itself. The wire is dark green and should be connected to pin 20 of the engine controller.
The 51 says the oxygen sensor is not changing its voltage as it should, but that would not affect starting.
The fact that you say only one plug is wet suggests that you have a turbo with 4 injectors, if not then that is a mistaken observation if you have non-turbo with a throttle body injector. So if you have 4 injectors can you hear the other three clicking or does it just sound like one clicks?
If only one, then I would check the harness to the fuel rail area to see if there is something that is keeping the others from firing. I wonder if you have enough fuel pressure (around 48 psi)? Does the fuel pump sound for a second when you first turn the key to the run position? It should. Checking the fuel pressure is probably a good thing to do even if you hear the pump if the all the injectors are clicking.
Those are my ideas for now.
