Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Voyager 2000 missing, chrysler voyager, plymoth voyager

Question
I have a 4 cyl. 2.4 engine.  with 67K miles
The Engine check light came on about a week ago, I took the cable of the battery and put it back on, and now it is out, however, a couple of days ago while it was stuttering the check engine light started to come on and off (Kind of flashing) but it is off at this point.
I never changed the spark plugs wires since I bought it new. Do you think this is the problem?
I doubt it is a problem with the engine or compression issue. I take very good care of my van. Change the oil every 3K miles and there is no oil leak or burning of any oil in between oil changes (not losing oil.) also it does not smoke or anything. It actually drives like a new van except for the missing at this time.
When you say valve, are you talking about the Cylind. valve or like the EGR or Oxygen or.. etc valve? could any of those be causing the missing problem?
Where do I check for vacuum misbehaving?

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer.
Andy

-----Question-----
I have a 2000 Plymoth Voyager with 67000 miles. I am 1st owner. Nothing major has been done on the vehicle. Recently, I start having missing or stuttering when I take off or put any pressure on the engine. Especially when I turn the A/C on it stutters a lot but does not die.Later at a higher speed, it drives fine. The missing is happening all the time but  at different speeds; it does happen when I try to put more power on the engine intermitently.
Is it fuel related, or vaccum. I checked the Spark Plugs and they are good. I changed them about 500 miles ago.
Any help is appreciated.

I guess I'll answer your question with some questions. Is it a 3.3/3.8? Did  you change the plug wires? Most important,is the check engine light on?If it is on ,the code will tell you which cylinder is misfiring. It could be a valve problem.I have come across that several times. If you put a vacuum gauge on it and the needle bounces, that would point towards a internal engine problem.Next thing to do is a compression test.

Answer
A flashing check engine light means a misfire is occuring and possible catalyst damage.being a 4 cylinder plug wire arcing is very possible .When you replace the wires make sure  you look at coil electrodes to make they aren't green and growing. The comment about the valves (intake and exhaust) was more geared to a 6 cylinder.Next time the check engine light comes on,check the codes. Most parts stores will do it for you. There is always a reason for that light to come on.Its not just to annoy you.
