Chrysler Repair: 93 LeBaron Electrical: No power after turning off ignition, power door locks, great shape

Question
Hi Roland,
93 LeBaron sedan, great shape. After turning off the ignition the car looses all electrical power for about a minute, then all is normal. Condition occurs about half of the time after turning ignition off.

Answer
Hi Jack,
The ignition switch is at the end of a fairly long chain of circuits that draw off the battery and is unrelated to many functions that should still be operational when it is off (headlamps and all other external lamps, emergency flashers,
cluster lamps, power door locks, etc, etc.). If you really mean no power whatsoever then the only explanation has to be that either a battery cable clamp, the ground connection from the - wire clamp near the battery, or the first splice in the + cable heavy wire is loose and that turning off the engine shakes it enoungh to disconnect it. If the emergency flashers don't work then it has to be a faulty battery clamp or ground wire or the battery itself is 'opening' internally. So see what does and doesn't work in the list above and see if you can identify the loose/open connection. Write me back with the results if you can't find out the reason.
