Chrysler Repair: 1998 Sebring electrical problem (likely body computer related), sebring convertible, fuse block

Question
I have a 1998 Sebring and i noticed the other day, the power windows are still working when the key is off. Also the bell that sound when the key is left in the ignition is not working. and last when i would lock the drivers door the passanger door would lock and the security light would go on, now this dose not work either. the power locks still work just don't lock both sides and activete the security system. I've checked all fuses and there all good.

Answer
Hi Anthony,
I am sorry to report that I don't have the manuals for the Sebring convertible which means that I also don't have the wiring diagrams that I need to understand the reasons for these problems. The one suggestion I would make, because most of these systems are mediated by the body control module, is to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and then reconnect it (just remove the - post clamp). That often will reset the body computer and clear away some glitches. The radio station presets may be cancelled as ther result of doing this, so be aware of that.
The other possibility is that if you had some heavy rain or a car wash in which water dripped on the body computer plugs due to leakage around the windshield then there may be water that is causing electrical shorts/gremlins at the plugs of the body computer. Again for lack of a manual I can only suggest that you take a look at the body computer module which is probably packaged todgether with the fuse block under the dash, and see if there is any residual water on or under it that might be clue to the unit getting wet recently.
I wish I had the manual so as to analyze what to do specifically, but I have so far not been able to acquire such manual at a price that I can justify for this volunteer activity that I have undertaken.
Best of luck to you,
Roland
