Chrysler Repair: Sebring blower motor runs on 2 speeds only; resistor block?, blower motor resistor, chrysler sebring

Question
2001 chrysler sebring -  heater blower doesn't blow on settings 1 & 2, but works fine on 3 & 4. there are relays for the rad fan hi and lo, but I couldn't see one for the blower motor. Is there one? If not my guess would be the switch, unless there are resistors hidden away somewhere. any thoughts? Thanks...Al

Answer
Hi Al,
I am flying a bit "blind" on the Sebring model if you have the convertible because I don't have a manual for that. The closest I have is a '95 sebring sedan manual and it shows there to be a blower motor resistor block (several resistors) located in the air duct downstream from the blower, which is the place that the block was positioned for cars designed after '93. In the sedan you gain access to the duct by removing the "stopper" on the left side of the glove box so that it pivots down far enough for you to see what is behind the box. And the duct is right there with the resistor block and its 4-wire plug facing you. Another possibility is to go in under the dash (removing and padding panel on the lower edge) at the right hand end of the unit which is where the blower is usually located. You can listen for the sound to get the location. Then the blower usually has an external wire harness and that is plugged into the resistor block nearby. Usually the block is held in the duct by 2 screws. When you take out the old one probably two of the resistors will be 'open'. I was told by another participant that they charge about $18-20 at an aftermarket parts store. Make sure that the resistors aren't touching oneanother or the duct when you install the new block.
