Chrysler Repair: 1987 Lebaron wiring: J2 circuit short, lebaron gts, switch fuses

Question
Hi Roland.  I have a 1987 Lebaron GTS 2.2L, with 60,000 original miles.  Recently, it blew a fuseable link.  I repaired it to only short it again.  After days of tracing, I've narrowed it down to the J2 splice that supplies just about everything on the car.  If I cut the Dark Blue (J2) wire from the switch, no more shorting, the engine will turn over, but not fire.  Have you found any common areas for the J2 splice to ground out and short?  If not, do you have the factory wiring diagram?  Thanks alot!!

Answer
Hi Marc,
I have the wiring diagrams so let me give you a rundown on where it goes from the ignition switch:
fuses #7 and #8 which are 20 amp and 5 amp which you would expect to blow before the fusible link blew;
directly to the alternator winding (returns to power module on dark green wire {R3 wire}), vapor system purge solenoid, throttle body area (4-wire plug) and then to heated oxygen sensor,
the diagnostic connector (front on right side shield).
I would suspect that where it goes to the heated oxygen sensor or near the throttle body is where the insulation has burned through. So take a look in those areas of the engine where the exhaust manifold may have melted the insulation.
