Chrysler Repair: cold start up on 1998 2.5 v6, hi chris, cold start

Question
I was reading through your past answers, and saw what appeared a simular problem, so thats ware I started. I have replaced thecoolant temp sensor, theintahe manifold sensor, and checked to see if the egr is operating. When I first started the car showed ap0300 code, then I changed the sensors, After that it started fine but when driven it ran rough in its pick-up. Then it showed an overall misfire. So I cleared the codes twice, and it ran quite well. Now this morning when started up I'm back to square one with a rough idle at start up. Where to go next? Thanks for all your imput, Chris

Answer
Hi Chris,
That is a useful comment. All that is left for a temperature dependent cold start problem are the two temp sensors, which you changed. But it would be worthwhile to check that the resistances are in the correct range. At 77 F they both should read 9-11,000 ohms, and at 212F 600-800 ohms. You might also want to check again for current codes. First disconnect the battery for a minute or so. Then reconnect, drive the vehicle and see if you get any codes other that 12 and 55, using the ignition key method.

Hi Chris,
When you say that you checked the egr to be operating, did you verify that the stem is in the fully closed position when it is cold, before start up. The problem with the egr can occur even though the stem moves, the bottom line is whether the valve is fully closed when you try to start the engine? Try moving the stem inward (toward the body) to verify that it is not ajar, and you might want toremove the valve and clean out the passageway. Other than that, and the changed temp sensors, you are left with a long list of possible reasons for multiple misfires:
ignition wires, fuel filter or pump, coil circuit, spark plugs, etc., etc.
So that is my best advice. Please let me know if you find the cause.
