QuestionI need to remove the interior door trim panel and the liftgate panel on a Town and Country van. Can you tell me how? It is a '98 model
AnswerHere are the steps:
Pry courtesy lamp from door trim
Disconnect wire connector from courtesy lamp
If equipped, remove screws attaching door assist handle to inner door panel
I.e., remove screws attaching trim panel to door from below map pocket
I.e., remove window crank
Remove screw cover from switch panel
Remove screws attaching switch panel to door trim
Remove power accessory switch from door trim panel
Disconnect power switch from wire connector
I.e., remove memory seat/mirror switch and disconnect wire connector
I.e., remove screw holding door trim to door panel from behind inside latch release handle
Disengage clips attaching door trim panil to door frame located around the perimeter of the panel
Lift trim panel upward to disengage flange from inner belt moulding at top of door
Tilt top of trim panel away from door to gain access to latch linkage
Disengage clip attaching linkage rod to inside latch release handle
Separate linkage rod from latch handle
Remove front door trim panel from vehicle
To install:
Hold top of trim panel away from door to gain access to latch linkage
Place linkage rod in postion on latch handle
Engage clip to hold linkage rod to inside latch release handle
Place front dooor trim panel in position on door
Install trim panel into inner belt molding at top of door
Install clips to attach door trim to door frame around perimeter...
follow reverse of removal from here...
On the hatch, which the manual calls the liftgate:
You have to remove the mouldings from around the window, believe it or not..
Remove lift gate upper frame molding (the very top)
Remove upper frame side moldings
Remove screws holding assist handle to liftgate and facteners around the perimeter of the lower trim panel
I.e., pry courtesy lamps from liftgate trim, disconnect wire connector from lamps
Remove stop lamp cover and fasteners holding the trim panel
Disengage hidden clips holding trim panel to liftgate from around the perimeter of of liftgate.
Remove liftgate trim panel.
Install is reverse.
