Chrysler Repair: TCM codes: 12,17,21,33,55 What do they mean?, engine coolant, chrysler brand

Question
I got codes 12, 33, 21, 17 and 55.

Put car into drive and go about 20 feet and it slips. Need to see if these codes will detect what problem is either mechanical or just need to replace TCM.

Answer
Hi Stephanie,
First off I am in the dark about what year, model, trans type you are speaking of, so let me know that if/when you write back.
Second, those are not transmission codes, rather they are engine fault codes. If you got them by an ignition key 'on-off.." type readout then they have to be engine codes because you can't access the trans controller vis the ignition key. Only a plug-in with a diagnostic readout box will tell you the trans codes stored in its separate memory.
Also I know this because the 55 code is not one that is ever used by the trans controller; for the engine controller it means 'end of readout. So if you can get the vehicle to a shop or to an Autozone where they will do it for free, get a trans readout and tell me codes.
The codes you listed are saying about your engine system: the battery was disconnected in the past 50-100 key cycles, the engine is warming up too slowly or the engine coolant sensor is inaccurate, an oxygen sensor isn't working, and the a/c clutch electrical circuit isn't working. But none of those explains anything about the transmission. So get a readout via a plug under the dash using a readout box that accesses the transcontroller.
Have you checked the fluid level in the trans? If you need fluid only use Chrysler brand from a dealer; then use a small funnel to add it via the dipstick tube. But don't overfill it which can do damage to the trans. Let me know the trans codes.
