Chrysler Repair: Factory Alarm Malfunction: alarms spontaneously, door latch, panic button

Question
I have a 1999 Town and Country MiniVan.  Sometimes when the doors are locked with the remote control after a period of time, never the same elngth) the alarm will start to sound and the lights flash.  The frequency is slower than when the "panic" button is pressed on the remote.  To stop the alarm from sounding at the slower rate you can press teh door unlock button and it will quit when the doors are unlocked.  What could be causing this problem?  Thanks for your help.  L.C.

Answer
Hi L.C.
Probably one of the sensors that tell the alarm system that someone is tampering is too close to going off that it is doing it spontaneously. My first thought is that one of the door ajar sensors is not getting pressed in tight enough by a door and so it will go off after a while on its own accord due to temperature change or wind or ?  So lock up the van and set the alarm, then try to pull gently on all the doors and tailgate to see if the alarm will go off. If you find one that sets it off, then adjust the door latch on the door frame to make the door close more securely which will obviate the false alarm. Let me know if that doesn't pay off, and I'll check the 73 pages of a manual I have about troubleshooting the alarm system and see if I can come up with some other suggestions for you.
