Chrysler Repair: chrysler intake manifold, head gasket replacement, valve piston

Question
1st time here and hope you can help. i have an 88 lebaron 2.2 turbo which is my baby. i was putting a vacuum block on when i think i dropped something into the manifold from the main vac source in the front of the intake. i tried a magnet to remove it but no luck. also did vacuum and no luck. how hard is it to take the manifold off and also what would happen if i did not get out the piece of screwdiver that fell in? thank you in advance

Answer
Hi Bernhard,
Of course in ideal circumstances one would like to remove any foreign object from the manifold. But it means removing both manifolds (because they share a single gasket) and the fuel rail, and perhaps the turbo. My inclination would be, if you have no other means to fish it out, to just leave it there until a time in the future when you need to do a head gasket replacement. The engine design is "non-interference" as far as valve/piston interfaces are concerned so even if somehow it moved to a point where it blocked an intake valve from closing there would be no risk of serious damage.
I suspect it will settle in some spot and not produce a notable problem. No guarantees of course.
