Chrysler Repair: 96 T&C quits 3 seconds after starting, warning lights, cranks

my 96 town and country cranks and dies in about 3 secs. if the odometer and gear select light dont come on when first started, if they do come on it cranks and runs fine, also some warning lights come on sometimes but go off same with check engine light, do you know what this could be  thanks jeff

That behavior sounds very much like the theft alarm system is no being disabled when you unlock the door to get in. Look at the theft alarm light to see if that might not be the case. The cause could be a flakey switch at the door lock, a flakey wire from there to the body computer (probably at the hinge area) or an issue with the plugs at the body computer under the dash. You can try unlocking the passenger door instead, or just give up on the alarm system by not using it (don't use the electrical door lock when exiting, just lock it with the key).
