Chrysler Repair: 16 valve 2.4 L motors reliability?, chrysler cars, patient surgery

Question
Wanted to know if the 24 valve 2.4 4clynders are a good depedable motor

Answer
Hi Brett,
I would find out the answer to that question by going to the annual automobile issue of the magazine Consumer Reports which I believe comes out in April. Also the single volume annual buyers guide of the magazine reprints the same data. It is in an article that reports the reliability of all the various models based upon surveys of their readers. The data is broken down by year model and engine and then evaluates the rate of owner complaint/satisfaction with each of the parts of the car. So you can look up all the Chrysler cars for a given year that use the 2.4L and see what the experience of the owners has been (much more frequent, more frequent, average, less frequent, and much less frequent repair jobs) as regards their vehicle. You can get copies in the reference section of your local library. I have found these to be very helpful when considering purchase of new or used vehicles.
If you can't get these easily, let me know and I'll go over to my local library later this week when I'm recovered fully from out-patient surgery I underwent last week.

P.S. I believe you are speaking of a 16 valve engine if you are asking about a 4 cyl DOHC
