Oh yes, and why didn't my obd pick up the ac problem when I activated it?

Answer
On-board diagnostics is tied heavily in to the engine control management system and very lightly in to the body/electrcical side of things.  Chances are your failure with the a/c will not affect federal emissions standards which is why the OBD system is in place in the first place.
