Nissan Repair: 1999 Nissan Sentra GXE Limited, nissan sentra, pin switch

Question
QUESTION: Hello Von,

On my 1999 Nissan Sentra it has factory alarm and electric windows and power door locks. Lately the alarm has decided to keep arming itself. I have shut the horn off so only the lights blink when you arm it. When driving down the road it looks like you have the hazzards on and flashing.  I have replaced the switch unit on the drivers side and the weatherstrip around the door frame. This took care of the problem for some time.  Then it started up again so I sealed all the contacts on the door frames and pulled up the kick panel and sealed it.  This has worked for a couple of months now but when my wife parked it when she came home about a half hour later the headlights were flashing and it was arming itself repeatly.

How do I completely disable this alarm system?  Police have told my wife she will get a ticket driving down the road with this car just trying to arm the alarm all the time. It causes the park lights and rear signal lights to flash just like the hazards are on.  You can not keep on driving with the hazards on.

Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you and God Bless you.
Sincerely,
Roger

ANSWER: Roger,

The car has an issue with the alarm resetting.  This can be caused by either the electric lock on the driver's door setting on the external door lock on either front doors setting.  The pin switch should not set the alarm.  The one you replaced on the driver's door.  Either the electric lock or the manual lock are shorting and setting the alarm.  Now, you could try to use the key on the driver's door and see what that does.  Other than reprogramming the car with a Consult II scantool (dealer) about $100 bucks to turn off the alarm feature in the software.  Or, a hard kill by cutting the lock wire at the body control module are the two ways to kill the alarm.

POWER DOOR LOCK (-) BLUE At Module In Driver’s Door
POWER DOOR UNLOCK (-) RED At Module In Driver’s Door
Unlock requires a double pulse.
DRIVER DOOR TRIGGER (-) LIGHT BLUE At Body Control Module Above Gas Pedal
PASSENGER DOORS TRIGGER (-) RED At Body Control Module Above Gas Pedal
The RED passenger door trigger wire catches the front passenger door and the left and right rear doors.

QUESTION: Hello Von,

Do you have a electrical printout of this procedure?  Using the hard kill by cutting the lock wire at the body control module. Do I cut both the red and blue wires in the body control module above the gas pedal?

Oh by the way the key will unlock and lock the front door. But when the unit is arming itself all the time one must be fast to open the door before it locks it again.

Answer
Roger,

You just cut the lock wire as that is the one that arms the system.  It looks to me like the door lock is the issue on the driver's door and that is causing the activation.  I would pull the door panel and inspect the lock wires and all the way through the rubber connector from the door to the body for breaks in the wire where it could be shorting.
