Chrysler Repair: 97 T&C rear A/C, blower motor resistor, change speeds

Question
When operating the dash switch for rear A/C the only air coming out is low in the passenger way back and hot. No cold air and no air whatsoever in the overhead. Any help would be great.

Answer
I'm not sure I follow you all the way here but let me know if I've got some of this right:

-Rear blower motor speed is limited to low speed only

-No air from the overhead at all

-No Cold air from any vents

I would like to know if the volume of air is low regardless of setting BUT you can hear the fan change speeds.  This would lead me to beleive there was a blockage in the rear HVAC box somewhere.

However, if you've got no change in fan speed I would be suspicious of the fan switch.  If I'm not mistaken this body style was limited to only a front control for rear HVAC.  If I'm wrong I would like to know if the speed changes with different speed settings on the rear control unit.

Sometimes a bad blower motor resistor could create a one speed only condition however, it is either completely inoperative or defaults to a high speed only or off condition.  This leads me to beleive you may have a bad switch up front.

No air from the overhead, I've not had to address too many problems with the overhead ventilation but I would suspect blockage as well.  The headliners and HVAC boxes are great homes for critters and I wouldn't rule that out as a source of blockage.

No cold air from any vents could be a number of things.  A bad blend air door or door motor.  Basically it directs air flow over the heater core or evaporator core or both to give you the desired temperature of air.

You could also have a bad expansion valve which is preventing the evaporator from getting cold.

Finally, you could have a low refrigerant condition.  Usually the rear units are the first to indicate a refrigerant leak because they are further from the compressor AND because they almost always are 10 degrees warmer than the front unit even when working perfectly.

You may have multiple problems here and alot of the symptoms tell me that it's leading back to the HVAC box itself in the rear.  More details?
