Chrysler Repair: A/C fuse blows (10 amp) of Dodge Neon, amp fuse, dodge neon

Question
96 dogde neon a/c works when car is parked & idleing.  Shortly after starting to drive the 10 amp fuse under the hood blows. I can let the car sit a few minutes & change the fuse, and it works again as long as it is parked. What could be the cause?

Answer
Hi Mary,
I assume that the fuse has a label that mentions something to do with the A/C, if not let me know, but the fact that the A/C stops working when it blows means it has to be powering some component in the A/C electrical circuit.
I have checked other wiring diagrams for Chrysler cars of the mid-'90s and determined that the 10 amp fuse is used to provide power to operate the relays for the A/C compressor clutch and the radiator fan(s) (I am not sure if the Neon has one or two fans). Those relays normally shouldn't draw much current to close the switch inside them but one may be marginal. So see if you can find those relays (probably in the box under hood) and if they have the same part number you could try exchanging them around to see if that alleviates the problem. Or buy a new one and try substituting it for each of those relays in order until you find one that when substituted by the new relay no longer causes the fuse to blow. The voltage may be rising when you accelerate which increases the flow of current and thus causing the fuse to exceed its limit. But other than that I don't know why it would not blow at idle but only when you start to drive.
Pease let me know if something positive results.
