Chrysler Repair: Temp sensor location: 3.0L V-6/ 2.2-2.5L 4 cyl, coolant temp, chrysley

Question
Can you tell me where to locate the temperature sensor on a 1992 chrysley lebaron engine?

Answer
Hi William,
There are two basic engines in '92, the V-6 and the in-line 4. On the V-6, the temp sensor is located on top of the engine, adjacent to the hemispherical housing where the thermostat is located, which has the large top radiator hose attached to it. There are two sensors at that location, one on either side: the single wire is the for dash temp gauge, the one with several wires in a sheath is the coolant temp sensor used by the computer to control the mixture, etc. On the in-line 4 the coolant temp sensor is on the side of the thermostat housing which is located between the 3-4 spark plugs on the side of the engine facing the front of the vehicle. The dash gauge sensor is on the same side of the block but at the front end of the engine. Let me know if you need to know the wire colors for verification of which sensor you are looking at.
