Chrysler Repair: Engine Cooling fan relay 1999 Plymouth voyager, amp fuses, plymouth voyager

Question
Hi Roland,

I've owned this van since '99 and never heard the fan running after the ignition was off, but today I noted that the fan runs continuously now its over 5 minutes with the car off.
How do I decipher if it is the relay or the fan/wiring that is bad. Not sure of location, but if it is difficult to access then I want to make sure I check everything out while it is apart.

Do you know of the test procedures to check the fan itself? Any schematics would help.

If you'd like me to call, please email your phone# or request my numbers.

Answer
Hi Kevin,
The fan relay is to the left of the fans, on the frame rail. It had some problems in the latter half of the '90's models so your relay may even be a recall item. I suspect the points are stuck closed. The relay is controlled by the powertrain controller but I doubt it should be causing this. So find and pull the relay or one of the 40 amp fuses (#4?) in the power distribution center to get it to stop for now.
