Answer
Hi Jeny,
By smoking I assume that you mean steam is coming out of the coolant recovery bottle, correct?
The only other part of the system you haven't checked for performance is the radiator internal flow. It may have clogged lines that prevent the full ability of it to release the heat to the environment. If you haven't ever flushed the radiator or done it in the past 3 years now would be a good time to drain the system (saving the coolant if new) and use a heavy duty flush according to the directions.
Another possibility is the timing of the distributor at idle, warmed up engine, with the coolant temp sensor unplugged is not at 12 degrees before top dead center. So check that with a timing light.
Does the cooling fan come on when the gauge pushes toward the hot side of the dial? If not, then check the fan circuit and wiring, and relay, and the coolant temp sensor (which should  read 700 to 1000 ohm across its terminals when the engine is at 200F). If the fan doesn't come on that will certainly cause overheating.
Is the mixture 50/50?
Are there a lot of leaves or other debris blocking the air flow thru the radiator?
You might also want to readout the engine fault codes. Use the ignition switch: turn it on-off-on-off-on and leave on within 5 seconds. Then watch the check engine light which is still on to begin to flash, pause, flash, pause etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause, then group those numbers in the order of appearance into pairs to form two digit fault codes. The last code will always be two groups of 5 flashes, e.g. the number 55 which is the code for "end of readout".
Write back or go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a translation of the codes.
Good luck on finding the cause.
