Chrysler Repair: 2001 Chrysler voyager power window, chrysler voyager, haynes manual

Question
I can't find the answer you are referring to to get the door panel off.  Do you know what the subject is so I can find it.  Thanks again.

Hi,
The power window on the driver's side door of my Chrysler voyager finally died-it took a long time.  I have been reading about fixing it myself but want to know if I need to replace just the regulator, just the motor or both.  Is there any way to tell?  Thanks.

Hi Karen,
Once you have the door panel off it would be appropriate to verify that voltage is getting to the motor when you try to activate the window. If it is then disconnect the glass from the regulator mechanism and see if the glass is moving easily in its tracks. If that passes, then examine the regulator mechanism for signs of damage or binding, and if that passes just replace the motor. If there is any binding in these separate parts, try lubricating, repair, or part replacement. (Once you get the door panel off, lift the window and inspect its motion, then support it with tape so you can work on the other parts without the risk of it falling.)
To replace the motor, disconnect the tie wrap and the electical connector, and remove the motor mounting screws. Install the new motor without disconnecting the old motor from the regulator cables. Do not allow the cable drum to separate from the cable guide. Then separate the original motor from the cable drum and guide. Insert the drum into the new motor shaft, and if necessary have a helper remove the support tape to lower the glass slightly to align the drum with the motor shaft.
For removal of the door panel, check an answer I sent to another questioned in the past two days.
This info is from the Haynes manual for '96-'99 which I would believe applies to this part of your 2001.

Answer
Hi Karen,
Sorry for that...not all the answers are listed on the previously answered list. So here it is:
I have the Haynes '96-'99 van manual to refer to. It show there to be four screws, two near the bottom below speaker level, and two in front of the arm rest area vertically arranged. Disconnect the battery (-) post. The courtesy light should be removed from the panel so you can disconnect its wiring. Then remove any door pull/arm rest assemblies (the upper two screws I described may be associated with that assembly). If you have mechanical lift/regulator remove the window crank handle which has a retaining clip behind its facia (a special clip removal tool is shown (flat spade with centrer cut out channel with a couple of "ears" to connect and push out the clip). If power window, note plug covers that hide the screws that hold in the switch panel and thus remove the power window switch panel and power door lock switch panels and disconnect their wiring. If you have memory seat/mirror then remove its switch with a flat bladed tool and disconnect the wires.
Then to remove the panel, grasp it by the edges, lift it straight up and thus unhook it from the door (there are several hook-like fittings on the panel that drop into openings on the inner door skin), but don't pull it away yet. The top rear lock knob should pass thru a hole in the panel, and also note that the latch release handle is connected to the latch inner mechanism by a rod which is inside the door and which has a disconnect fitting that you need to release to separate them. Disconnect any other electrical connectors. The reverse is followed to assemble.
