Chrysler Repair: horn will not work, chrysler concorde, fatigue crack

Question
i was putting in a new stereo system in my 96 chrysler concorde and when i went to blow the horn it didnt work. i checked the fuse and it was not blown.

Answer
Hi Dan,
There are a couple of fuses in series that power the horn circuit:
under the hood in the power distribution center there is a 20 amp in slot F (furthest to the rear, close to the fender) and under the dash a 20 amp in position #8 (F30). That latter fuse also powers a red wire on pin 4 of a black 6-pin plug in the trunk for a remote amplifier. So if in the course of working on the radio you accidentally shorted that wire to ground it would also take out the horn. The one under the hood powers those circuits plus some of the headlamp switch, so if you haven't had any problems with your lights that one must be o.k. But look at both fuses for either being blown or having developed a fatigue crack in the internal conductive wire.
