Chrysler Repair: convertible on 92 lebaron, amp circuit breaker, fuse box

Question
My convertible top won't move, although I hear the motor click on.  When I checked the fuse box, the 2 gray metal ones were loose.  I tried getting a new one, but it would not stay in the socket.  Also, the power seat does not work.  Neither do th epower dooe locks or the windshield wipers. I  know it's a lot, but any suggestions would help.
Thank you.

Answer
Hi Mara,
If you are speaking of fuse cavity #3 under the dash, that is supposed to be a '30 amp circuit breaker' in it, not one or two "fuses". That is the breaker that gives power to everything that isn't working for you. So see if you can get the proper electrical part from a dealer or a part store that has a good stock and serves the auto shop trade.  It may be that the part you are trying to get to fit in the cavity is not the correct part!
If it still doesn't work, then look under the hood for the long narrow box behind the battery which has relays and larger size fuses in it, and find a 40 amp amber colored fuse (labelled #57) and look at it to see if the conductive wire inside is blown or cracked. That one sends the power from the battery to the circuit breaker in cavity #3. I believe that the circuit breaker may have a push button or a throw switch that you can reset if it blows again. Should that happen then probably there is a short circuit in one of the devices that is now not working which causes the breaker to "break". And then we have further detective work to do.
I won't be able to answer any follow up questions until next Tuesday, however.
