Land Rover Repair: BCM, rovers north, aftermarket suppliers

Question
I have a 1997 Range Rover i took it to the shop and they said the Body Contol Module has to be replaced, can i send it some where and get it replaced, does it have to be re programmed to my car?
www.directauto.com quoted me $192.50 to sent it in and get repaired i just dont know if it is worth it.
what to you think????

Answer
The BECM is a $1,500 part from a dealer, and it must be programmed with a T4 or Autologic system before the vehicle will even start and run.  I have never heard of the $192 repair from directauto, but I'd be very skeptical if I were you.  If there were a good repair process for these things I have no doubt LR would be selling the service or selling remanufactured BECM units.

I am sure they (LR) are aware that people don't want to pay $1500, and if they knew a cheaper answer they'd offer it.  I also note that aftermarket suppliers like Rovers North and Atlantic British have no alternative in this case.
