Chrysler Repair: LaBaron Radio Replacement, infinity radio, stereo unit

Question
I had a 1990 LaBaron GT convert and I'd like to upgrade my casette stereo with one with a CD. Are there any oem replacments units I can purchase? I've noticed on ebay that some stereo unit from Jeep's appear to look like the might fit. Any suggestions on a replacment unit (w/CD-cassette)

thanks!

Answer
Hi Joe,
Stereo in cars is not something I have studied very thoroughly. However I do notice that by '94 the Chrysler Infinity radio included a CD player, so you could check the later LeBaron models thru '95 to see what you could find. The Infinity does need the remote amp laced in the trunk set up and additional speaker to take full advantage, so if you don't have an Infinity now you would want to check on whether the wires are there for that already or not. Maybe the later non-Infinity radios also had CD? I don't know for sure. But I would stick with Chryslers and Dodges for the years thru '95 and not try to adapt a Jeep or anyother make or manufacturer because the wiring assignments of the plugs are quite specific and you would need to either buy an adapter set or rewire the plugs, and that can sometimes be a challenge unless you know the color code assigments and the terminology. I have those for 90-95 if you need them.
