Chrysler Repair: 2002 Grand Cherokee OBD2 DTC P0601, grand cherokee, obd2

Question
My MIL has been coming on and off. I checked it with an auto scanner and got DTC P0601.  I have a 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland 4.7 HO with 93,000 miles on it.  Is this something I should troubleshoot further, or do I have to replace the PCM?  Do you know  how I could test it?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Tony,
I have a Chrysler powertrain manual for 2001 which states that the only action to take in the case of this code is to replace and program the PCM. No other possibilities are offered. So I believe that is definitive. The PCM evidentally tests itself and comes up with the result ("internal checksum for software failed, does not match calculated value").
