Chrysler Repair: 2002 Sebring Interior Dimmer Switch, chrysler sebring, jumper wires

Question
hi.  i have a 2002 Chrysler Sebring and the interior dimmer switch doesn't work.  coud this just be a fuse issue?  the dash stays illuminated however sometimes when i hit my turn signal it will flash off and on for a second.  any help is much appreciated.

Answer
Hi kristianDavid,
The latest manual I have for the interior dimmers is a '95 which shows the dimmer to be called a rheostat, located in the dash to the left of the steering column. In that manual it shows how to open the dash to get to the rheostat and how to test it using a 12v bulb and the battery and some jumper wires. I could xerox that page to you so you could see if it is applicabel to your 2002 model. If that rherostat is o.k. then it would suggest there is something wrong with the wiring to the body control unit. In the '95 model the fuse was 10 amp #8 in the fuse panel under the dash. I doubt thought that there is a single fuse for the interior dimmed lights, but rather it also powers some other items too. But I can't say if that is the case for the 2002. If you would like to test the rheostat I will xerox and snail mail that page to you for your consideration. Just give me a postal mailing address.
