Chrysler Repair: ABS brakes, chrysler cars, chrysler imperial

Question
I have a 1991 Chrysler Imperial with ABS brakes.  I have been losing fluid from the reservior through the filling caps.  I have replaced the caskets in the caps, but the problem persists.  What is going wrong inside the master cylinder and how do I fix it?

Answer
Hi Rich,
Thanks for the positive feedback. Another viewer of the archive, Brian Buck I believe is his name, sent me along a tip on your ABS situation:

Hi Rich,
Unfortunately I don't have any experience with ABS systems. I did review the Chrysler shop manuals to see if I could find a mention of that particular symptom but could not.  The system is complex and covers about 50 pages in the manual. One approach would be to get a readout of the ABS computer memory for any fault codes that would be clues as to what is wrong, using the DRB II readout box available at a Chrysler dealer. A specific fault code may be stored that would start you on the road to repair.
My associate expert on Chrysler cars, Pete Lacey, does list brake systems as a specialty so you might want to ask this question of him.
If you do get a fault code from the ABS readout, let me know the number, what the dealer said it meant, and what they would propose to do, and for what cost. I can look up the explanation and remediation for that code in my '94 manual that covers the Bendix ABS 4 system, if that is the model you have in your '91 Imperial.
Sorry to not give you any more direction than that.
Roland
