Chrysler Repair: 91 Dodge Spirit, dodge spirit, diagnostic capability

Question
Have a 91 Dodge Spirit that when driving will bog down. Let up off the gas pedal then push pedal again sometimes works.  Help. Thanks

Answer
The 33 code is probably not read correctly, because that has nothing to do with how the engine runs, just the a.c. clutch and the 76 is outside the range of code numbers. Please try it again. Don't count the light being 'on' when you stop at the key 'on' position as a flash. Just count after that point. There will be a slightly longer pause after each two sets of flashes, which indicates the completion of another two-digit number's readout. Keep trying until you get numbers that range between 11 and 63 and always remember the last number will be 55. And once you get what you think is right, do it one more time to verify it. The numbers are very specific so not reading correctly is going to throw us off the solution.

Hi Liz,
There is a built-in self-diagnostic capability in your car. Just take the ignition key and turn it: "off-on-off-on-off-on and leave it on" doing this within an elapsed time of 5 seconds or less. By "on" I mean just to the run position, not the start position. Then you will see that the check engine light remain "on" but begins to flash, then pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause and keep track of them. Then when it stops flashing write down the numbers, and pair them up to form two digit numbers, in the order that they read out. The last two sets of flashes will be 5 each which forms the number 55 which is the code number for "end of readout". Then write me back with all the code numbers that came before the 55. You can repeat this as often as you like to be sure you get the correct numbers which are clues as to what is wrong. I'll tell you what to do after that.
