Chrysler Repair: manual shift lever shaft, throttle lever, valve body

Question
Hi Roland. How are U my friend. I want to ask something about the manual shift lever shaft. It's on page 21-51 from the copies that U send me. I had the transaxle selector lever(page 21-59) and the transaxle throttle lever(page 21-59) removed because the gear changing was kinda hard(too much pushing) and I thought that it's from the cable(and cheched it). But it's not from the cable. After removing the transaxle selector lever it moves quite free. What do U think could "block" the turning of the transaxle selector lever?
P.S.While I was removing the transaxle selector lever and pulling it, it slightly come out about 1-1.5cm. What is this lever exactly. Is it something like a cylinder with holes in it? Can I just push it back so it in its position and why does it turn so hard? Thanxxx!

Answer
Hi Miro,
I have no personal experience with the inside of the transaxle. The selector lever appears from the drawings to operate various hydraulic valves in the valve body as well as the parking brake mechanism. It appears to me that to examine it you have to drop the pans and collect the fluid and then remove the valve body, and the shift lever will come out the underside along with the valve body. Then you can inspect it for why it is binding. You don't have to remove the entire trans to do this, but I would need to send you the next pages in the manual if you want to do that correctly. It is essentially the next set of mechanicals after you remove the filter. So if you have done the filter you are familiar with how to get that far into it. Let me know and I'll copy and mail you the pages.
