Chrysler Repair: engine oil Chrysler lebaron 85, chrysler lebaron, oil level

Question
Hi, Roland. How are U my friend? I've checked the engine oil level and it's on "add" level. Can U check how many litres I will need to fill it to full? And also I'm not sure that I've checked it corectly? Should I check it when the car is cold or hot? Thanxx.

Answer
Hi Miro,
The amount to add when the level is at the "add" level is 1 quart=0.946 liter. I don't believe there is a significant difference between cold or hot, but it should be added after allowing the engine to rest for about 10 minutes so that all the oil in the upper part of the engine will drain down as much as possible. And also it should be measured when parked at level spot on the ground. Observing both those recommendations will assure that you don't overfill the sump.
On the transmission, because the volume of fluid is so great and only a fraction is in the sump, the level should always be measured when the transmission has been driven enough to warm the fluid. It is very important not to overfill the transmission.
