Question - Roland,  Thanks for your input.  Took it to a dealer and they said it lost communication with the computer.  They reset it and $88 later I was on my way.  Thanks again!
John
I have a 1999 T/C Limited with 98K miles.  Started the car and noticed the mileage readout was only first three digits, gear selection was only PND ((shifted fine), door ajar light was on, and low fuel light was on.  Drove the car and also no tach or speedometer reading.  Turned the car off and the gear selecton stayed lit.
I am thinking some type of fuse/relay problem.  Any ideas?  Thank you for your time.  John

Hi John,
There is a silver lining here: there are only four wires to the instrument panel that are responsible for all its functions. First there is a pink wire from fuse 28 in the power distribution center under the hood near the battery which you might check for contact problems at the fuse. Then there is a black/light green wire that grounds the unit at a point on the left kick panel, just in front of the driver door opening near the floor (may be hidden by a trim panel. Check that for looseness. The rest of the operation is done by a digitized data bus that has two wires (white/black, violet/brown) that come from a multipin plug at the powertrain controller, also near the battery. I don't have the pin numbers for those and there are probably two different plugs so I can't give you the specifics for checking the continuity of those wires between the controller and the dash. But if the 12V on the pink wire is solid and so is the ground, then those wires should be checked for continuity. If that proves out, then a new cluster is needed. No relays are involved.
Please let me know what you learn about this.

Answer
Hi John,
You are very welcome. If they happened to specify which unit had to be reset (the cluster or the powertrain controller) I would be interested in knowing. I assumed they used their diagnostic readout box to perform that task. I appreciate learning how that was resolved.
