HI I HAVE A 97 CONCORDE 3.5L. I HAVE NO CODES, NO SPARK, ALL SENSORS ARE TESTING GOOD. IT HAS 12V GOING TO COIL BUT THE PCM IS NOT GIVING THE COIL GROUND, THERE IS A QUESTION SIMILAR TO THIS FROM FEB 20.THE ONLY THING I CAN COME UP WITH IS THE PCM. THANKS

HI AS FOR CHECKING THE CODES I HAVE A SCANNER WHICH I CHECKED AGAIN AND IT HAS $41(GENERATOR FIELD NOT SWITCHING PROPERLY)BUT NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, IT HAD BEEN THROWING MISFIRE CYL 1 CODES ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH BUT NO BIG PROBLEMS. AND I PUT A PCM IN IT TONIGHT AND STILL NO SPARK. I DID THE GROUNDING TESTS FROM HAYNES AND THE COIL TESTED GOOD. ALSO I AM GETTING FUEL. THANKS JEREMY

Hi Jeremy,
I assume by the 'grounding test' that you proved that the coil driver wires (3) are in fact being grounded in synchrony with the engine cranking, is that correct? Earlier you said that wasn't the case, so please tell me what might have changed to correct that? And if you have 12V on the other end of the primary coils (orange/green from the ASD) then there has to be magnetic field being stored in the primary windings and released by the drivers. And so if you still get no spark on any of the 6 cylinders' plugs and the primary resistances and tower to tower measurements are all good, then the only thing that I can see that would be in question is whether the body of the coil pack is grounded so the the secondary coils have a complete circuit against which to express their voltage. If the coil pack is indeed grounded to the engine, it has 12V, it has grounding of the 3 drivers, then you have to get spark unles the spark wires are all bad or the engine itself isn't grounded. Have you checked the ground wire from the engine to the - post of the battery? That is all I can imagine for why you get no spark.
I have no other suggestions but will wait to learn what you did to solve this strange one.

HI  THE COIL PACK IS GROUNDED BUT THE TEST WITH THE 3 COIL DRIVER WIRES ARE NOT BEING GROUNDED WITH THE ENGINE CRANKING. ALSO I FOUND LAST NIGHT I HAVE FUEL PRESSURE FROM THE PUMP,BUT NO FUEL INTO THE ENGINE.SORRY ABOUT THE TROUBLE. THANKS JEREMY

Answer
Hi Jeremy,
Everything is pointing toward the Powertrain Control Module being faulty. You have shown it to be providing 12v to the fuel pump and the spark coil via the ASD and fuel pump relays which means also that the sensors are good. And no codes, and fuel pressure is getting to the fuel rail (which is where you measured the pressure, I assume) so that all seems to indicate that the drivers for the injectors and the drivers for the spark coils are not being put out by the PCM.
Please let me know what you find out if you go that route.
