Chrysler Repair: Heater fan, blower motor resistor, chrysler town and country

Question
I have a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country and the heater blower fan only works in the high position, What would cause this?  Is it possible that a fuse has blown and I need to change it?  I would think that it wouldn't work at all if that is the case.  Do you think I just have a bad switch?  The front and back fans both do it.  Thanks for your imput.

Answer
Hi Deb,
The problem is due to a part called the blower motor resistor block. If it has an electrical failure this is exactly how it will behave. The block is located in the engine compartment, on the firewall at the very top corner of the passenger side where the resistors are out of sight, in the air intake duct where they will dissipate the heat from the resistors, but the plug is visible. You remove the plug and a couple of screws and the block can be removed and replaced. I believe there may be a similar unit for the rear fan, but try replacing the front one first.
