Chrysler Repair: Type of Gas for Lebaron, chrysler lebaron, light foot

Question
Hello my friend. My Chrysler LeBaron 1985 2.2L turbo is run on gasoline but I would like to know what type of this fuel should I put in because I heard that if I put gasoline with octane digit of 92 it would be bad for the engine. On the other side some people think that because of the bigger engine one could put any type of gasoline. How do U think?! I ussually put 99 or v-power but it hits my pocket too much. Please help!Thanxx!

Answer
Hi Miro,
The '85 manual says that it is o.k. to use 87 octane but for better performance and fuel consumption 91 is alright too.
Those numbers are research + motor/2 so they need to be recalculated for European octane basis. The compression on the engine is 8.5 to 1 so it only really needs the higher octane for when the turbo is called upon. If you drive with a light foot then the 87 is fine, if you use the turbo alot then the 91 would be better.
