Chrysler Repair: wiring digital cluster, vehicle speed sensor, crappy webpage

Question
Hi again...

thanks for your reply.
I managed to de assemble the whole cluster dash, which makes everything quite easy to acces.

I made a lot of pictures, because the wiring doesn't match up...
To make the viewing easier, I have put them online again, but now in a crappy webpage.
http://www.garagetest.nl/pics/lebaron/wiring/lebaron.html

I hope you know what is what.
If not... is it possible to just try several options? or could that lead to a blow-up of the car's ECU?

thanks again...

Luc

Answer
Hi Luc,
I haven't looked at the photos yet, but because you have them there right in front of you why not tell me which wires are not consistent with the breakdown you posted at the Yahoo site. There should be agreement as to which pins are used and which unused, and color discrepencies could be due to fading. The only changes between '90 and '92 was the addition of an ABS warning light wire that may be moot if you don't have ABS. There are several typos in what you posted so let me correct those:
BLACK ANALOG:
1 - LR - Left front turn signal   COLOR SHOULD BE LG
2 - TN - Right front turn signal
3 -
4 -
5 - WT/OR* - Vehicle speed sensor
6 - GY/LB* - Tachometer Signal
7 - DB - Fuel Gauge
7 - DB - Fuel gauge level tank sending unit
8 - OR - Dimmable Headlamps
9 - LB/RD* - Low fuel output
10 -
11 - VT/YL - Engine Coolant temperature sending unit
12 - DG/YL* - Check Engine Lamp   COLOR COULD BE GRAY. THERE IS EITHER A TYPO IN THE MANUAL OR AN ALTERNATE WIRE COLOR FOR A DIFFERNT FUNCTION. THIS IS A DOUBLE ENTRY!
13 - GY/YL* - Engine Oil presuure gauge sending unit
14 -

RED ANALOG:
1 - DB/RD* - Seat belt Lamp
2 -
3 - LG/OR* Anti-lock brakes warning lamp  NOT USED IN THE '90
4 -
5 - GY/BK* - Brake Warning
6 - BK/TN* - Airbag Warning Lamp
7 -
8 - PK - Dome and courtesy lamps
9 - DB/WT* - Warning lamps and gauges feed
10 - RD/GY* - Right high beam fuse  SHOULD BE RD/OR*
11 - BK/PK* - malfuntion indicator lamp
12 -
13 - LB - Fog lamps feed (G body only)
14 - BK/OR* Instrument panel ground

BLUE DIGITAL:
1 - GY - Low engine oil pressure warning switch
2 - BK/TN - airbag system warning lamp
3 -
4 -
5 - TN - Right front turn signal
6 - LG - right front turn signal    LEFT FRONT T S
7 - VT/BR - serial bus B +
8 - WT/BK - serial bus B -
9 -
10 -
11 - VT/PK - right low beam fuse
12 - RD/GY - right high beam fuse  COLOR IS RD/OR
13 -

BLUE DIGITAL:
1 - OR - dimmable headlights
2 -
3 -
4 -
5 - GY/BK - brake warning
6 - LG/OR - Anti-Lock brakes warning lamp  '91-92 ONLY
7 - BK/LG - Electronics ground
8 -
9 -
10 -
11 -
12 - DB/WT - Warning lamps and gauges feed
12 - PK - Dome and courtesy lamps

Errors are shown in caps.
Yes, all the gauge wires that are missing from electronic cluster 'arrive' on the data bus. You can pick up those wires at the 6-pin underdash body bus connector socket. I would not experiment with any permuatations, that could prove diasterous.

So have another look and point out any discrepencies.
Also for clarity tell me the year of your car and the year of the electronic cluster you bought, just in case.
