Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Van Electrical System, sound escapes, fuse box

Question
I would like to disable the ignition key chime and door lock preventer.
The van is a 1999 Chrysler Town & Country w/ 3.8 V6.

Answer
P.S.
Hi Russell,
I just recalled that the 28 fuse also powers some of the memories in other units so pulling that one might not be a solution. If you can tell me exactly what you are trying to correct about the locks I can give it another try.

Hi Russell,
I am not certain where the chime tone originates, but I believe that it is built-in to the body control module under the dash, next to the fuse box. If that is the case, then I suspect that you can't electrically disconnect it entirely without shutting down that module which is needed for many funcitions. I suspect that if you locate the source of the chime that it will be internal to the module and that you can cover over the holes from which the sound escapes with a sound absorbing material and accumplish your goal that way.
On the door lock preventer, if you are talking about disabling the automatice door lock system the easiest way to do that would be to remove fuse 28 (10 amp) located in the power distribution center, under the hood. It it a minifuse so look for that smaller size. I don't know if more than the door locks are powered by this fuse, but it is worth experimenting with.
