Chrysler Repair: fuel consumption, fuel consumption, foot on the gas

Question
hi
I have 300M 2001
the question is how can I reduce the consumption of the fuel?
is it by reduce the throttle opening so the air pressure will be reduced and the PCM will reduce the fuel to meet the ideal ratio of 14.7/1 air to fuel. or there is another idea
thanks

Answer
Hi Sultan,
There is no practical way to modify the engine to improve the fuel consumption, at least that I am aware of. My approach to minimizing consumption is to make sure that the engine is running as it was designed (maintain the various systems as required), and to have a very light foot on the gas pedal at all times (pretend there is an egg between your foot and the pedal that you don't want to break). I try to anticipate stops ahead and coast up to them. I accelerate very gradually. I keep to the right lane on freeways to lower my top speed. And I keep the air pressure in the tires at least as high as listed on the door sticker.
Those sorts of things will do more to reduce fuel consumption than any gimmicking with the engine. The engineers at Chrysler are skilled so I wouldn't try to second guess them.
