Chrysler Repair: 98 Intrepid oil question, sludge problem, trep

Recently acquired 98 trep from family member.  127,000 kms on dino oil.  I want to avoid sludge problem/engine blowing so switched to Valvoline full synthetic oil. Now I'm reading this may sludge up oil pump as synthetic will clean out sludge.  should I be worried?

Hi Diane,
I have heard of of this as a possibility but I don't know if it is a real concern. It would depend I suppose on whether there has been a buildup up of sludge or not. If you watch the oil for cloudiness that would probably be sufficient to avoid the issue, and change it if it appears abnormally cloudy.
