Chrysler Repair: 1997 Plymouth Voyager Grand SE 3.3, plymouth voyager, haynes manual

Question
Hi, I want to change the spark plugs on my engine. The front 3 seems simple enough. HOw do I get to the rear three. A lot of equipment seems to be in the way. Also do you know the gap that should be set on the plugs?

Answer
Hi Saman,
You are right about the difficulty, so you don't want to do the change more often than every 30,000 miles, and infact you might want to see if you can get plugs for the engine that will run further than that but make sure they are compatible for your engine.
The gap is 0.048 to 0.053 inches.
the haynes manual has the following about getting at plugs 1,3, and 5:
for #1- remove the drive belt. (There is a spring-loaded pulley that tensions the belt, put a wrench on the nut at the pulley shaft and rotate it clockwise to release the tension on the belt for removal). Remove the four alternator bracket bolts and push the alternator rearward. Then you should be able to remove the plug with a plug socket and ratchet.
for #3 and #5- remove the resonator and the intake strut bolt at the cylinder head. Remove the intake strut bolt at the intake manifold and swing the strut out of the way. That should give you the access.
Torque the new plugs to 20 foot-pounds.
Take your time to get it done right.
