Chrysler Repair: 2001 Sebring Convertible Headlamps, torx head screws, xenon headlamps

Question
I bought some xenon headlamps and foglamps for my car and I have no idea where to even begin.  All I know is not to touch them.  Can you give me some advice?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Stephen,
I am not familiar with the access to the rear of the headlight housings (the cavity with the inner reflector and bulb) on that model, but in any case you need to get behind the housing where the bulb holder is inserted. You may not be able to see the rear of the housing from inside the engine compartment, and some models require you to remove he metal cover that runs across the compartment at the front top to see them. And then the housing itself may be too tightly fitted to allow the bulb holder to be removed in which case you have to remove the housing (a couple of torx head screws if that is the case) But suffice it to say that once you find the bulb holder you will see that it has an electrical cable and plug which you detach, then note the holder is held in place by a plastic ring/collar with tabs. You unscrew the collar 1/4 turn to remove it, then with a narrow straight edge screwdriver you get between the lip on the holder and the socket on the housing to separate the holder from the housing, and the holder and bulb come out as a unit.
Then you remove the old bulb, noting how it fits into the holder, and using tissue paper to hold the new bulb put it in the holder and reverse the process. If you think the bulb surface might be fingerprinted, clean it with rubbing alcohol.
That is the process.
