My friend & I have been going crazy trying to find where to put the little round silver fuse with three prongs so my turn signals will flash.  He checked the filament & all of my bulbs are fine.  He also took apart my dash board to no avail.  PLEASE HELP!  Where does this thing go?  Thank you in advance!

Hi Jana,
There are two types of LeBarons for '92, a two door convert and coupe, and a four door sedan (Landau). On the four door sedan the flasher unit is mounted under the dash on the divers side, above the fuse box where you will see an air conditioner duct and on that duct is a flasher that plugs into a bracket attached to the underside of the A/C duct.
On the two door cars, the hazard and turn signal flashers are combined as a single unit and it is usually yellow in color. It is located under the dash, to the right of the steering column and it too is attached to the A/C dust in that area. I am not sure that what you have (round silver fuse with three prongs) is a hazard flasher or a combo flasher. Did you get it a Chrysler dealer or an auto parts store, and it wouldn't be called a fuse if it were a true flasher. Those are separate electrical elements with different purposes. So write back if this still doesn't help you out.

Hi again!  I hope I am doing this right.  You have no idea how much of my time this has consumed.  I know I could take it to a dealer, but money is now not only the issue, this is personal.  I have to get this figured out & fixed.  OK, thanks for letting me vent.  My car is indeed a conv.  i believe i saw the yellow box u mentioned to the right of my steering column.  Is this what u feel needs replaced?  If so, any idea where i might find one for a reasonable price; i.e. online, etc.?  You are awesome.  I wish I could speak directly to you.

Thanks again,

Hi Jana,
I would begin by checking the fuses that power the circuit to make sure they aren't blown. Under the dash there is a fuse box so find it and look at fuse #6 to make sure the wire isn't broken inside of it. Also, under the hood there is a rectangular box on the driver side inside of which are some fuses and relays. Look at one end of the box for a fuse located between pin 36 and 37 and make sure that it is o.k.
The first one (#6) is for the turn signals, the second one is for the hazard flasher but it could also, if blown, affect the turn signal function. Does the emergency flasher system work? is another way to check that second fuse. If so then that fuse (36-37) is o.k.
Once you have shown the fuses to be o.k. then the combo flasher (yellow) is the next suspect. So I would check at the dealer parts counter and at a full service auto parts store to see which has it and has the lowest price. It is not worth trying on line because of shipping costs. If replacing the flasher doesn't fix it, then the multifunction switch or the wiring is suspect, but both of those will be more costly, and logically you need to check the fuses and replace the flasher first before getting into those issues if necessary.
Let me know how it progresses.

Roland,

Hi, me again.  I will do what you mentioned above.  My main concern was the location of the fuse blocks.  You mentioned it mattered if my car was a conv or sedan - different locations for fuse blocks (left of steering column vs. right of steering column).  It is a convertible.  Where would these relays be that may need replaced.  I purchased the Haynes guide & still have yet to find my answer.  I want to thank you again for your help.  Also, to answer the question about the hazzard flasher, they are not blinking either, but the bulbs are ok.  Knowing all of this info now, would you PLEASE start over will your diagnosis & directions?  Thank you ever so much,  Jana

Answer
Hi Jana,
In my first response I said the combo flasher unit is to the right of the steering column and it is yellow in color, for the convertible model. So that is what you need to buy and what you need to replace. It is not a relay, so just forget about relays. Also, the fuse issues were discussed in my second response, and I only mention those just in case they were both open (blown) as well, or as the primary reason for the systems not working. So if you can find the fuses in question and check them, fine. If you can't find them then buy the flasher (which you said you thought you saw), replace it and see if that solves both problems. If not then look for the fuses at that time. Looking at the fuses now will possibly save the cost of the combo flasher, though if both were blown then that might also implicate the combo flasher anyway in the problem. So I leave it to you as to how to proceed. There are two fuse boxes in the convert, one under the dash and the other under the hood in the engine compartment. If the combo flasher is "dear" then you would want to check the fuses to make sure that they both aren't blown. If they are, then get fuses and try replacing them and see if the system works or the fuses blow again. If they blow again then get the combo flasher, replace the fuses and cross your finger that it is solved. It is most likely the combo flasher, but I can't guarantee it. It should not be too expensive a part, compared to paying someone to find and replace it. You think you saw it, so go for it.
