Chrysler Repair: idle, chrysler concorde, 1993 chrysler concorde

Question
I have the same problem that Trish has (5/13/05).
I have a 1993 chrysler concorde 3.5L engine.
I have checked for leaks , and replaced the Idle air control motor twice I thought the first one could have been bad. Any help?
                         Thank you,

Answer
Hi Chris,
Have you tried to ask the engine controller for any fault codes it may have recorded? Turn the ignition 'on-off-on-off-on' (quickly, in less than 5 seconds) and leave 'on', then the 'check engine' light will begin to flash, pause, flash, pause, etc. Count the number of flashes between each pause and group them in pairs to form two digit numbers, then write back with the result. The last two sets of flashes will be 5 each, i.e. the code number 55 which means end of readout. Repeat the readout to be sure you have an accurate result. You can also get a decode of the faults codes at: www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html
The possible non-electronic reasons are:
leaky egr valve (partially open rather than closed at idle) so you might want to see if the stem moves up and down. quickly in response to throttle movement).
air filter clogged.
fuel pump not delivering properly or fuel filter clogged.
leaking head gasket (but you would be loosing coolant).
wear of the timing belt or worn cam shaft lobes (how many miles since the belt was changed and how many miles on the engine?).
Let me know if anything interesting comes up on fault codes or the other possibilities.
