Chrysler Repair: 95 Chrysler Lebaron Conv. Power Window, chrysler lebaron, lebaron convertible

Question
Hi. On my 95 LeBaron Convertible the back passenger power window is stuck in the down position. There is still motor noise when the up/down button is pressed, accompanied by what sounds like breaking/grinding glass. I can see the top of the window, and it doesn't look broken. Could the motor have broken the glass and be grinding on it?
Also, do you know if it is normal to hear the fuel pump? I have had it replaced once already, but I can still hear it running.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Keri,
I have a LeBaron Coupe without the power quarter window (the official name of that one) so I haven't had to ever get into that issue. However it is virtually certain to sooner or later break down. I am hovever active in an on-line group (in fact two such Yahoo autos groups) that are focussed on the LeBaron, and most of the participants are convertible owners. The issue of the quarter window and its repair comes up very regularly. If you went to either of those sites and did a search for "quarter window" you would find lots of postings about how to fix, get the parts, etc were you so-inclined to do it yourself. Most likely the cable mechanism that is driven by the motor is what is broken and needs replacing, though I don't know all the ins and outs of parts and where to buy them. I doubt if the window is broken. I do have the '94 shop manual that gives instructions on removing the paneling so as to gain access to the area so if you want those let me know and I'll xerox and mail them to you by snail mail. The Yahoo groups are called Chrysler LeBaron and The Chrysler Lebaron Club:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/thechryslerlebaronclub/messages
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/chryslerlebaron/messages
are the url's for them. So investigate those and read some of the past postings on the subject using the search function.
Yes the fuel pump normally can be heard inside the car, it runs for a couple of seconds when you first turn the key on, and of course will run after you start the engine. It is a little more noticeable from outside the car (located near the rear wheels, under car, actually in the fuel tank).
