Chrysler Repair: Oil Pan Gasket, plymouth neon, line chrysler

Question
I have a 1995 Plymouth Neon, 2.0L SOHC.  I have found an oil leak around my oil pan gasket and have removed all but one bolt from the pan.  I need to know the easiest way to remove the bold underneath the front support arm.  The space is very narrow.  Thanks a lot.

Answer
Hi John,
I am not familiar with the Neon chassis/engine arrangement. The only manual I have for that engine is as it is used in the Cirrus/Stratus. What the section on oil pan removal says is:
"Drain engine oil
Remove transmission bending bracket
Remove front engine mount and bracket
Remove transmission inspection cover
If equipped with A/C remove oil filter and adapter
Remove oil pan"
If you do remove any of the supports for the engine, you should support the engine somehow (my remark, not the manual at this point).
Whether that applies to the Neon exactly you can decide.
Reassembly is the reverse, except the manual calls for a 1/8" bead of silicone rubber adhesive sealant to the parting line of the oil pump and engine block on each side of the block. Pan screws are tightened to 105 in-lbs.
I have a Canadian friend who owns a Neon and is active in an on-line Chrysler group that we both co-moderate. Why not give him a email and ask if he has any suggestions? His name is Ean Orsel and you can reach him at:

Good luck on the project.
