Answer
Hi Msrk,
I don't have a manual that shows the technique for removing the cluster on a van, but it most likely involves removing the bezel around the front of the cluster and then releasing some fasteners hidden behind the bezel or maybe from behind the dash. I believe that the circuit board is replaceable on these dashes, once you get it out you should be able to tell. So why not give it a try before investing the $184. I do have the wiring diagrams for the '91 electronic dash on the van (I assume yours is an electronic type as opposed to electomechanical). It shows there to be a 14 pin plug-in. You might want to verify that the black/light green wire on pin 7 is grounded to the chassis and also that the dark blue/white on pin 11 has 12V on it with the ignition switch in the "on" position because if either of these were not so-indicated the gauges would fail. Then you could look over the circuit board for any components that look fried or oozing fluid for possible repair with a new component from an electronics supply store. If none of that works then at least you can see how the board is installed and whether you can remove the old one from your present unit. You might be able to find a dash like you need from a pull-it-yourself wrecking yard for considerably less than $184.
